Our adventure begins as we head east toward Prekmurje. As the majestic Alpine peaks fade from view, the landscape gradually transforms into rolling hills, lush vineyards, and vast fields stretching endlessly toward the horizon. Our first stop takes us to a local pottery workshop, the last of its kind in the region. We’ll watch artisans skillfully shape raw clay into beautiful, handcrafted pieces. Discover the rich history of pottery, a craft that once flourished across Europe, from Vienna and Budapest to Venice, where these stunning creations were admired and sold by many.

On our way to the Mura River, we stop to admire a masterpiece by the legendary slovenian architect Jože Plečnik. This church, a true architectural gem, blends seamlessly with its surroundings, inviting us to a moment of reflection in its serene beauty.

By the Mura River, we immerse ourselves in the fascinating world of watermills—ingenious structures that float on pontoons, rising and falling with the river’s currents. We will explore the intricate process of flour milling and uncover the rich history of this ancient craft.

Next, we explore one of the region’s most prized culinary treasures: pumpkin seed oil. We visit a small, family oil mill where the oil is still handcrafted using traditional methods passed down through generations. Discover the labor-intensive production process and enjoy a tasting of this rich, aromatic oil, cherished for its health benefits and unique flavor.

After a day of discovery, unwind and enjoy a delicious dinner at a charming local farm. The meal reflects the unique fusion of Hungarian and Slavic influences in the region, featuring hearty and flavorful dishes perfectly complemented by local wines. A true taste of the land and its traditions.
